Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA)
We're so happy to have you join us! It doesn't matter who you are or where you are from, we are all brothers and sisters in Christ.
We are a Roman Catholic Church who is striving to live the call of Christ to go out and proclaim His Good News. "Striving" is the choice word - we are not perfect. We are a collection of sinners who help each other up when we fall.
If you would like to find out more of who we are, and how we relate to God through our Catholicism, we have Order of Christian Initiation classes that generally start in September taught by Deacon Todd Sommers. Held at St. Brigid Church, classes are weekly and run through Lent. If they feel they are ready, participants come into the Church at the Easter Vigil.
These classes are intended for those who
-
are not baptized Christians and would like to be fully initiated and welcomed into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist;
-
Were baptized as Christians in another Christian community. Seeking full communion with the Catholic Church, these adults receive the sacraments of Confirmation and the Eucharist;
-
Were baptized as Catholics in infancy or childhood but who have not received the sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation.
If you are interested in becoming Catholic or would like to have more information, please call the parish office at 814-336-1112 or Dcn. Todd at 2015deacon@gmail.com
